PATA & GTEF Partnership Session:
“Best Practices under the ‘New Normal’ through Consumer Sentiment Analysis”
In partnership with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), this session will feature the best practices from across the region to drive the recovery of the global tourism economy. PATA created the Crisis Resource Centre (CRC), a digital resource hub that was launched in response for the global tourism community’s urgent need for crisis management and leadership. The CRC helps tourism entities evaluate where they are on in terms of recovery and offers practical tools to help them plot that recovery. During this session, best practices collected in the CRC from the private sector and Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) will showcase optimal crisis communication plans, strategies to support SMEs, tour operators, and hospitality businesses achieve sustainable business renewal. The session will also feature a discussion with two experts on the sentiment of both Chinese outbound travellers and their emerging post COVID-19 preferences, as well as sentiment analysis from primary inbound source markets to China.

Macao’s Success Story:Public Private Partnerships for Tourism Economic Revival
Macao realized early on that collaboration is key to both counter the spread of COVID-19 and to revitalize the tourism sector. Macao provides a case study for how the successful cooperation between the public and private sectors has spurred investments and mutual support. As a lynchpin of the Greater Bay Area, Macao has driven high-quality development and the creative industries. As the city looks to the next round of growth, collaboration with its neighbours in the development of Hengqin Island aims to further regional integration. Strategically positioned as a World Centre for Tourism and Leisure, the road to recovery for tourism in Macao exemplifies the power of solidarity. By putting in place new coordinated approaches between the private and public sectors, the tourism sector in Macao has shown its resilience and innovation. This session will highlight the policies and strategies that Macao has put in place to aid in the recovery of the tourism sector and how private and public partnerships have heightened corporate social responsibility, supported jobs and skills, SMEs, and the sustainable development of the community.

Hubei, with its long history and culture, is home to one-of-a-kind cultural customs and endless stunning natural beauty with world-renowned mountains and lakes that reflects the spirit of the Jingchu culture. It is the destination that is adored by domestic and international travelers alike.
It is here where one finds the “World’s No.1 Ethereal Mountain,” Wudang Mountain (Wudang Shan), a name that is derived from the renowned Wudang Kungfu. It is also here where one finds the majestic Three Gorges of Yangtze River; moreover, Hubei is home to the UNESCO Geopark, Shennongjia. Known to some as the “Colorado” of the East, Enshi Grand Canyon is located in the province as well. Featuring the world’s longest riverside landscape park as well as China’s largest city lake, Wuhan East Lake that features a greenway of more than 101 kilometers, the city is well-deserved to be dubbed as an “Urban Green Heart.”
Hubei Province is one of the most important birthplaces of the splendid culture of the Chinese Civilization. The “Homo erectus” species, dating back to more than 1.95 million to 2.15 million years ago, is the oldest archaeological find to the modern-day human that has been discovered in the Asian Continent. The modern-day geographical area of Hubei witnessed key historical turning points throughout the development of the Chinese Civilization. Hubei is where Yandi Shennong, the ancestor to the Civilization, was born more than 8,000 years ago, it’s where the “Eight Hundred Years of Chu” Kingdom thrived, it is where significant historical allusions from the Three Kingdoms took place, and it is also where the first shot of the world-renowned Xinhai Revolution was heard. The Province is home to three UNESCO World Heritage sites: Wudang Mountain (Wudang Shan), Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and Tusi Sites. It also boasts many historical figures that had significant impact on Chinese history such as Qu Yuan, Wang Zhaojun, Meng Haoran, Lu Yu, Li Shizhen, Zhang Juzheng, Zhang Zhidong, Wen Yidong, Li Siguang; this culturally rich and naturally beautiful land is also home to the colorful folk heritage of the Tu and Miao ethnic groups of China.
