Allan John Hackett or commonly known around the world as “AJ” Hackett is a New Zealand-born entrepreneur who popularised and commercialised bungy jumping across the globe. He carried out many world firsts including bungy jumping from the Eiffel Tower in 1987. Mr. Hackett opened the world’s first full-time commercial bungy site in Queenstown, New Zealand in 1988, and opened sites in Australia, France, United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, Indonesia, Macau, Russia and Singapore. Over 4 million customers have so far experienced the exhilarating and life changing experience of Bungy Jumping at AJ Hackett operated sites, and millions more have experienced their unique activities from Giant Swings, Ziplines, Skywalks, Adventure Parks and Skyjumps to the Macau Towers very own Tower climb. Mr. Hackett travels extensively, developing and promoting new activities for an ever growing adventure tourism and experience-focused market. He was recently decorated with the Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contributions to adventure tourism industry of New Zealand.
