Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government
Gong Zheng, male, Han Chinese, a CPC member, was born in March 1960 in Suzhou of Jiangsu Province and started work in August 1982. He was an on-job postgraduate and holds a Doctorate degree in economics. Gong is now a Member of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Deputy Party Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee, Mayor of Shanghai, and Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of the Shanghai Municipal Government. Gong previously worked as Division-chief-level Secretary of Minister’s Office of China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC), Deputy head of Tianjin Customs, deputy director general of the Preparatory Office of National Customs Information Management Center, Deputy Director General of Business Specification Department and Deputy Director General of Information Work Leading Group Office, GACC, Director General of GACC Policy and Regulation Department, Party Secretary and Head of Shenzhen Customs, Vice Minister of GACC, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Provincial Government, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Committee and Party secretary of the CPC Hangzhou Committee, and Deputy Party Secretary and Governor of Shandong Province.
